MEDSOS

MEDITERRANEAN S.O.S. is a Greek environmental and social NGO, active since 1990, for the protection of the natural and cultural heritage and the promotion of sustainable development of the Mediterranean Sea area, for the dialogue between the peoples of the region.

Aims:

  • Raising public awareness and encouraging changes in citizens’ -especially youth- everyday behaviour that impact on the environment
  • Advocating, lobbying and promoting cooperation among social partners, stakeholders & policy-makers at local, national, regional level
  • Promoting active public participation in sustainable development strategies and demonstrating alternative solutions locally
  • Promoting intercultural exchanges and balanced international cooperation among European - Mediterranean partners

  • information campaigns at the local, national and regional level
  • production of print, audiovisual and multimedia material
  • publication of tri-monthly magazine & e-newsletter for subscribers
  • organisation of photo exhibitions, music concerts, street events etc.
  • presentations in schools, education packages, creative games / competitions for kids
  • organisation / participation in volunteer summer camps, field work, voluntary clean-ups
  • youth groups exchange and training projects
  • networks with NGOs and public agencies at local, national, regional and Euro-Med level
